Ballet

Our dance school offers ballet classes for children aged two and a half upwards. These classes adopt creative approaches to introduce young children to ballet, finding fun ways to develop musicality, performance and technique. This learning environment leaves children and students inspired to improve, create and enjoy!

In our classes we teach the Cecchetti method of classical ballet which is expressive, precise, and musical. As students develop, they have the opportunity to take part in ISTD Cecchetti Ballet examinations. This approach to classical ballet - combined with our teaching methods - make for classes which inspire both fun and discipline: an enjoyment of the process and notable progress!

Lyrical Jazz

Our Contemporary dance classes for Children aged five and above incorporate influences from jazz, modern and contemporary dance to expand our dancers' technique, creativity and versatility. This can be fun for students attending classes as an enjoyable hobby, and is extremely beneficial for those who would like to take their dance training further.

Our Tap dance classes - also for children aged 5 and above - creatively teach students important tap vocabulary and allow the opportunity to combine these steps into exciting rhythms and patterns.

In our Modern, Contemporary and Tap classes; dance steps, phrases and longer sequences are performed to fun and popular music and improve students performance skills, strength, fitness, and ability to pick up dance combinations.

Opportunities

Alongside ISTD examinations, students with the desire to take their dancing further are also encouraged to audition for schemes such as the Cecchetti Junior and Senior Associates.

We encourage all our students to pursue their strengths and interests, including other creative opportunities such as choreography competitions.

At the Bethany McKeand School of Dance we also have exciting events during the year, such as our popular and memorable workshops and performances.
